development of the Kalmar Autostrad and Autoshuttle navigation
The Kalmar Shuttle and Straddle carriers were equipped with automation equipment in order to use them in fully automated container terminals. Initial proof of concept was done with a hydrostatic shuttle carrier, later development was done on the hybrid Shuttle and Straddle carriers.
As Solution Manager, Navigation Systems I was responsible for the development of the onboard navigation and guidance of these machines. This involved research and development as well as project delivery: from system design, subsystem selection, software implementation, testing, on-site verification and installation.
After development and testing at the Tampere testsite, a fleet of Autostrads was succesfully delivered to the Trapac container terminal in Los Angeles.
